Dogs are like firewood

Training your dog is like laying in a winter's supply of wood for your fireplace. Sure, you enjoy the end results (a well behaved dog and a cozy fire). But the process of gathering, cutting, splitting and stacking firewood can be a great and enjoyable experience all by itself. Training your dog is its own experience, as well...challenging, invigorating, and richly rewarding.

What a great deal! With firewood, you get to enjoy the outdoor experience AND a beautiful fire at the end. With dogs, you get to enjoy the training AND the company of a great dog at the end! Which is better? The process or the end result? Since most of us return to the woods for more wood, and go out to get another dog when the first one's gone, it's hard to say for sure....
