Nawdia is a wire-haired Dachshund familiar to many advanced obedience students in Yakima and Central Washington, since she has taken many classes (obedience, rally and agility) with her mom, Gail Nowak, from Kennewick.
Nawdia just had back surgery at WSU to repair a ruptured disk. The prognosis is good, but Gail has to leave her there for a week. The surgery and aftercare cost $4,000. Eileen Michals, a good friend of Manning Dog Training and Gail, has put out this word:
"I am writing in hopes of pulling just a bit of money out of everyone's bait pocket to help with the cost of the surgery which is around $4000. Nawdia has been doing the PAWS to Read program at Keewaydin library since Gail and I started the program in Mid-Columbia Library system in September of 2006, she also visits Legacy Homes and Kennewick Life Care, other libraries in the system and makes people smile with her attitude and wiggly butt. The alternative for this wonderful little dog would have been to put her down and Shreq and I look forward to sharing many more therapy visits with Nawdia in the future.
"Any monies received that are not needed for Nawdia's medical expenses will be donated to WSU Veterinarian School. I have included a photo of Nawdia 'doing her thing' at Keewaydin, where the children are missing her visits since she was hurt a couple of weeks ago.
"If you can help this little dog get out of debt, I would be very appreciative for your help. :-)please send a check to:
