De-Skunk Your Dog

Got skunk?? Here's what you need to get the smell out of your dog's hair and skin:

Baking soda, about 1/2 cup
Hydrogen peroxide, 1 quart
Liquid dish soap, about 1/4 cup

Mix it in a pitcher and fill with water.

Thoroughly wet your dog with plain, warm water. Pour or sponge the above mixture onto your dog, and work it in well with your hands, from nose to tip of tail. (Take care around the face, and avoid getting insides of ears wet.) This should take about two minutes or more. After at least two minutes, thoroughly rinse your dog with clear, warm water.

This formula works better than any commercial de-skunking remedy, and is a whole lot cheaper! Please don't use tomato juice anymore either. This is FAR better!

It's not just for de-skunking either. Lizzie recently came home smelling like the dead fish she'd rolled in. We tried her regular shampoo and that didn't touch the stench. So we bathed her in the de-skunking remedy and it worked like a charm. Her coat was clean smelling and soft.

Caution: The hydrogen peroxide MIGHT turn your black down brown! No kidding. Still, it may be worth it!
